Users and Invitations
Note: This content applies to users managed by security groups. If you instead manage a user's security by their roles, see Users.
To get users started in the web view, you can simply send them an invitation. From Control Panel, Security, you can view and manage the people who use Raiser's Edge NXT through the database or web view, such as to easily invite people to use the web view and cancel or resend invitations as necessary.
-
In the Raiser's Edge account column, your database view users appear. To register these users to use the web view, send them an invitation by email.
-
To invite an entirely new user to Raiser's Edge NXT, add them as a user and send an email invitation. When you add a new user, you assign their security group.
Tip: To view users based on their security groups, select Filters, choose the groups to include, and select Save. To view only users without a security group, select No group assigned.
To invite a user of the database view to use the web view, select Send invitation from their menu on the Users or Need invitation list, enter their email address, and then select Send invitation. After the user receives the invitation, they appear on the Awaiting response list.
Tip: To send multiple invitations at once, select their recipients and select Send invitations.
Note: When you invite a user who already has an account in the database view, they automatically have the same security groups as in the database view. If a user is incorrectly linked to a group, they can update their group or its rights from the database view. For more information, see Security Groups.
To invite a user who doesn't currently have an account in the database view, select Add user, enter the email address to receive the invitation, choose the security groups to assign the user, and select Add user.
Note: When you invite a user who doesn't currently have an account in the database view, Raiser's Edge NXT automatically generates their password for the database view. For the user to log into the database view, a system admin must first reset the password to one the user knows.
To send a duplicate invitation, such as if email delivery fails or the user can't find the original invitation, select Send another invitation from the user's menu on the Users or Awaiting response list, edit the email address if necessary, and then select Send invitation.
To cancel an invitation, such as if you inadvertently send one to the wrong email address or user, select Cancel invitation from the user's menu on the Users or Awaiting response list and then select Cancel invitation.
Tip: To cancel multiple invitations at once, choose their recipients and select Cancel invitations.
To disconnect a Blackbaud account from a Raiser's Edge account, such as if you mistakenly link incorrect accounts, select Disconnect accounts from the user's menu on the Users or Registered list and select Disconnect accounts. When you disconnect accounts, the Blackbaud account can no longer access data available to the Raiser's Edge account, and the user's status changes to "Not yet invited."
Tip: To help prevent data loss, we recommend users with access to system-level features — like Settings or Control Panel — have a unique login for their admin tasks, separate from their day-to-day activity. For those users, set up multiple accounts in the database view, and invite each account to the web view with the appropriate security groups.
